One can use almost any material to make furniture. In these pictures old MRE boxes were used to make a set of drawers. They were infinitley more comfortable to live out of than a sea (duffel) bag. The MRE cabinet was made with duct tape, string for handles and a swiss army knife to cut the cardboard to size. Some time later wood was scrounged form a shipping crate and a more upscale chest of drawers was made.
A short while after I made the chest of drawers from the MRE boxes identical chest of drawer began to show up. These made a huge difference in the living conditions of many Marines. Upon leaving Saudia Arabia after Operation Desert Storm the upscale wooden chest was given away to another Marine.
